‘Masterpieces: Face to Face’  - the transmedia project designed to open conversations and encourage you, our audiences, to get involved.

Preparing for our production of Sarah Daniels’ Masterpieces, we knew we needed female voices - as many female voices as we could gather. The play, written in the 80s in response to horror film Snuff, is a defiant response to a cultural climate that makes women fearful.

The questions raised by Masterpieces are just as relevant today. That’s why we were so thrilled that the playwright was willing to let us recontextualise the play, for Ireland in 2020. Over the last 40 years, feminism has evolved. The questions Daniels asked then are still important now, but our answers might be different. We wanted to start that conversation.

Masterpieces is the thesis - our starting point. And Face to Face are some of the possible answers - found in conversation with the Irish experts on assault legislation, victim protection, pornography, kink, and horror.
